My name is Bailey Mcmahan and this website is a space where I share who I am, what I do, and what I’m passionate about.

I am currently a senior majoring in Communication with a concentration in TV and Multimedia Journalism. Over the past several years, my time in this program has shaped me into a versatile communicator, storyteller, and creative thinker. I’ve grown through hands-on projects, collaborative opportunities, and coursework that pushed me to explore different areas of media, technology, and communication strategy.

My concentration in TV and multimedia journalism has given me extensive opportunities to work with camera equipment and the production process behind video storytelling. I’ve filmed interviews, created short segments, and produced content that required planning, scripting, recording, and editing. Being behind the camera has strengthened both my technical skills and my appreciation for the creative process that goes into producing high-quality media.

One of the most valuable parts of my experience has been learning how to develop strategic communication plans. Whether for class projects or real organizations, I’ve practiced analyzing audiences, defining goals, and creating messages that are meaningful and effective. This has helped me understand not only how to communicate, but how to communicate with purpose.

I’ve also gained strong experience in business promotions and design work, including creating flyers and brochures, marketing materials, and content for different platforms. Through these projects, I discovered how visuals and messaging work together to capture attention and represent a brand’s identity. It taught me to think carefully about tone, color, audience, and detail which are all essential components of successful promotion.​

In addition to media production, I’ve also explored coding, which has broadened the way I approach problem-solving and digital communication. Having some coding knowledge allows me to understand how websites and digital tools function behind the scenes, which has been especially helpful in this project and the ones I have completed. 

​

Throughout my academic journey, I’ve completed numerous presentations, from researched speeches to creative project showcases. These experiences have helped me grow comfortable with public speaking, presenting information clearly, and communicating complex ideas in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.

​

What I enjoy most about communication as a whole is how much of a wide range it is. There is always something new to learn, whether it’s technology, strategy, storytelling, or design. I love being able to take an idea and bring it to life through media, visuals, or video. Every project gives me the chance to grow, experiment, and improve.
